How To Change Your LinkedIn URL.
Below you will find out how to quickly change your LinkedIn profile URL on both desktop and mobile.
On desktop (web browser)
Go to linkedin.com and sign in to your account.
Click your profile icon / Me → View profile.
On your profile page, look for the Edit public profile & URL option (usually on the right side).
On the “Public profile settings” page, find the section “Edit your custom URL” (often top right).
Click the pencil (edit) icon next to your current URL.
Type your desired custom URL (for example: linkedin.com/in/YourName).
Use 3–100 characters (letters and numbers).
Avoid spaces, special characters (except hyphens).
Save/apply the change (click Save or press enter).
Your profile will now be reachable at the new personalized URL.
On mobile app (LinkedIn mobile)
LinkedIn’s mobile app sometimes doesn’t allow URL editing; it might require switching to desktop site view. But here’s a workaround:
Open the LinkedIn app and log in (if not already).
Go to your profile (tap your photo / “Me”).
Tap the three dots / More (⋯) near the profile editing options.
Select View as desktop site (if offered) or open in a browser interface.
Once viewing the desktop version of your profile in mobile browser, follow the desktop steps: click Edit public profile & URL, then change your URL.
Save and return to app — your new URL will stick.
Tips & best practices
Choose a simple, professional URL (usually your name or name + middle initial) for easier sharing.
Avoid underscores, punctuation (except hyphens) and long strings of numbers.
Check availability — once a URL is taken, you can’t use the same.
After changing, update any links you’ve shared (resume, business cards, email signature) to refer to the new URL.
Because LinkedIn allows only one custom URL per profile, make sure the new one is final enough before changing.
